Cindy Hinant is an interdisciplinary feminist artist living in New York City. Born in Indianapolis, she attended the Herron School of Art and Design majoring in ceramics and sculpture before attending the School of Visual Arts of New York where she received an MFA.
She has been the recipient of the Robert D. Beckman Jr. Emerging Artist Fellowship, the Edward Albee Visual Artist-in-Residence Fellowship, and the Sheffield International Artist Book Prize. Her work has been exhibited at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, the Palais de Tokyo, the Indianapolis Museum of Contemporary Art, the North Miami Museum of Contemporary Art, the Egyptian Modern Art Museum, and the Lenbachhaus Munich. Her work has been featured in The New York Times, Art in America, Artforum, and Wallpaper, and is included in the book “New York New Wave: The Legacy of Feminist Art in Emerging Practices,” by Kathy Battista, IB Tauris, London, 2019.
